The premise is that God's truth is still relevant but that we must be wise communicators of His truth. This paper will first look at some of the assumptions and characteristics of current society. Then, we will conduct a review of the current literature on preaching in this culture. It identifies some leading ministries who were instrumental in establishing 'Sonship' within the mainstream of the Pentecostal Movement. Chapter one reviews the history of Emley's Hill United Methodist Church from its founding six years after the founding of Methodism in America in 1784 through the first two hundred years, which were most notably marked by a constant cycle of part-time pastors.  Chapter two lays out the polity framework of the United Methodist Church within which the author had to operate.  Chapter three cites pertinent readings that impacted the author's understanding of the setting and the problems faced.  Chapter four presents the project design, describing the work used in gathering the data necessary for renewal. The psychological theories that are integrated for this thesis include Family Systems Theory, Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. The thesis was applied to a young married couple with the use of the Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis, The Personality Self-Portrait by Multi-Health Systems, and the Prepare/Enrich Inventory assessment tools. The intent of this project is to develop a framework that creates a community, whereby the heart and subsequent actions of the leader create a culture in which covenant is likely to develop.  The author's hypothesis is that key leader behaviors model a culture of covenant.  These behaviors were defined and prepared as a survey pre-test amongst Coastlands Executive Team members. Although fingers are being pointed in all directions, no one seems to want to take responsibility for the collapse.  The church has become an organization that treats symptoms, but continues to overlook the problem.  This thesis will look past those symptoms in order to obtain a clear diagnosis of the underlying problem that exists in the church today.  It will be discovered that polarization is that problem.  It is the byproduct of years of theological, doctrinal, and missional conflict between the two dominant political polarities of the church: the progressive liberal polarity and the conservative evangelical polarity. It will be discovered that the agendas of each polarity are guided by a long established set of intrinsic core values. A model that will effectively assist pastors in the mobilization of Christians into twenty-first century church ministry is the team-based model. This model best addresses the ecclesiological mandates within the twenty-first century cultural terrain. The researcher sought to determine if a positive relationship existed between equipping lay leaders with teambuilding models, principles and skills, and developing church workers who are more effective and fulfilled in ministry in Pentecostal churches in the Northeastern United States. The findings of this project indicate a positive relationship exists between an increased understanding of biblical teambuilding models, principles and skills in the life of the Christian worker and a more effective and fulfilling ministry
