These challenges can include financial and health concerns, future living arrangements, final wishes, and discovering the ultimate value of one's life. Tragically however, widows, widowers, the never-married and divorcees are often left to contend with such issues alone. Meanwhile, they may have adult children who will also be deeply affected by these issues, and are able to help. But that help rarely comes. Instead silence, ignorance, and misunderstanding prevail between the generations regarding the realities that will impact them both.  This project is an examination of these issues and the reasons that prevent aging parents and their adult children from discussing them constructively. Subjects were exposed to five different expository sermons in the two sermon forms and their responses to a questionnaire were collected the next day (N-1,000).  There was no significant difference between the sermon forms and the subjects ability to recall the big idea.  Narrative sermons are as equally effective as propositional sermons in recall. Preachers should consider narrative preaching as part of their homiletical repertoire to engage this neglected group of The problem at hand is answering the question of how a nine year old church remains committed to honoring God and making more disciples for Jesus Christ. The hypothesis is that if that church remains committed to a biblical vision, it will remain honoring to God and making disciples. The project tested this hypothesis with a congregation survey to understand attitudes towards Timberwood Church's vision. Chapter one gave the history of Timberwood, which started on Easter Sunday 2004. Chapter two outlined some biblical and theological foundations that support the biblical vision. Chapter three allowed the reader to place Timberwood in the history of evangelical thought and practice. Chapter four tested the hypothesis with a project that surveyed the regular attendees and members of Timberwood. This survey explored their understanding of the DNA and values of Timberwood Church as well as attitudes towards the same. By crossing this border to study, reflect and pray the Psalms together participants from LaGrave Christian Reformed Church and Guiding Light Mission formed genuine Christian community. Through theological reflection on spiritual formation and research from small groups it can be said that believers who are sent to cross borders are transformed by participating with Jesus in his incarnational work of sending his followers in mission. By crossing a socio-economic gap and participating in a small group, self-awareness in participants was enhanced which led to a transformed perspective about people on the other side of the gap. I seek to marry church planting with discipleship, making discipleship the primary focus in the church planting endeavor. The aim is to provide the church planter with an appropriate purpose for planting a church as well as with an accurate picture of what discipleship looks like in order to produce and reproduce it. This work challenges the church planter to consider 'what' to plant more so than 'how' to plant. The church planter will be armed with a process for making disciples in and through his church plant and be free of having to retrofit a process. Often several churches in the same community evangelize the same people, each then vying for the new converts. There is a better way: collaboration, documentation, and fellowship. Therefore, Chapter one identified biblical patterns of evangelism juxtaposed with evangelistic methods today in St. Albans, NY. Chapter two and three discuss the interrelated theological and anthropological dynamic in collaboration. Chapter four uses the Hexagon exercise with a learning team of neighboring pastors to develop a working methodology. Chapter five recommends ways to manage diversity and unity, while reevaluating method, mission, and ministry in the
