The intervention was based on peer patient narratives and was presented in video format for six consecutive weeks as either spiritually oriented or as factually oriented.  The spiritual transformation scale (STS) score of the spiritually oriented narrative group was significantly greater than the factually oriented narrative group. It will suggest a way for the denomination to rediscover its unity through the use of the sermonic method of preaching such as the one taught by Dr. Haddon Robinson. Chapter one gives background on why the unity of PCUSA is threatened. Chapter two explores the meaning of the title 'Lord.' Chapter three provides an overview of the theological developments of Christ's lordship, and how the denomiantions creeds and confessions address this subject. Chapter four will discuss how the theological conflict may be resolved. Through ignorance, lack of training, or misinterpretation of scripture, many pastors encourage unhealthy submission to abusive spouses, offer inappropriate Christian platitudes, and advocate for the 'sacredness of the family' at the expense of a woman's health and life -- compelling women to stay in abusive marriages, thus hindering them from receiving the help they need. Recent research indicates that many of these pastors agree that they are ill-equiped to minister to abused Christian women, and some genuinely desire training and ministry resources to help the women in their congregations. The research is centered around preparation and analysis of a series of four sermons on social justice.  An attempt was made to demonstrate to the congregation that social justice is a central theme running throughout the whole Bible.  Particular emphasis is placed on the preaching of the prophets and Jesus' ministry of preaching and teaching.  A cross-section of the researcher's congregation was asked questions before the sermon series began, after each of the four social justice sermons, and after the whole series had been completed.  There was a discernible difference in the audience's opinions on why people are poor and in the audience's intention to change structural injustice. In addition, there was an increase in the respondents' ability to identify biblical texts that address social justice and an increase in their ability to apply biblical social justice to local, national, and global issues. This thesis examines the intertwining of images and identities within consumer culture, noting that Christian women may not differ from their non-Christian counterparts in their responses to the images surrounding them. A survey of Christian college women was qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed. Christian churches must constantly face the pressure of ministering in a Latter-day Saint environment.  The high density Mormon population creates a unique dynamic that necessitates the ability to: explain the distinctives of the Christian faith; defend the accuracy of the Bible; and preach an accurate reflection of Christ to people influenced by this theology.  For this reason it is necessary to wrestle with current trends in Mormon doctrine and how they relate to Christianity.  This thesis evaluates current trends within the Mormon church to determine whether or not Mormonism is now Christian. It seeks and answers the question, 'What, if anything, has changed within Mormonism?'
