The enhancement of computer-based software and improvements in microcomputers and operating systems is enabling the design and development of a wide range of multimedia education compact disc (CD) products.  I will use this technology to create an interactive tool that supplements classroom lessons and the individual reading of the textbook Biblical Preaching. Because students have different perceptual strengths, information on the CD-ROM will be presented in a variety of formats.  The exercises will incorporate the use of audio and video, as well as written text to accommodate the different ways that people process information. My philosophy in regards to the interactive CD-ROM is that learners should be able to approach learning in a way that takes account of their own learning needs and learning style. This writer theorized that a preacher's homiletical skills would increase when exposed to an understanding of the various biblical genres.  The theory evolved into the development of a survey-style seminary course taught at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  The data collected from the test instruments administered during the course supported this writer's theory.  Chapter 1 of this thesis-project presented the problem and its setting. The problem was the need for a survey-style preaching course from the perspective of the biblical genres, and the setting for the thesis-project was the Leveall College of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary located in Decatur, Georgia.  Chapters 2 and 3 detailed the theological framework for this thesis-project.  The framework included an understanding of expository preaching, holistic interpretation of the Scriptures, and the incorporation of the biblical genres into the art of expository preaching.  Chapter 4 presented the literature review for this thesis project.  Sidney Greidanus's The Modern Preacher and the Ancient Text served as the skeletal foundation for this thesis-project.  Chapter 5 detailed the implementation of the project, the teaching of a new survey-style preaching course. To that end, the project provides an example of a tested graduate level women's ministry course to train women leaders.  The material was specifically designed for the master's degree in Christian education at Dallas Theological Seminary where the author teaches.  Four evaluation tools over two semesters were implemented. The data was analyzed and used to recreate the course enhancing learning and providing a model for future studies that can be adapted to local church settings as well as academic classrooms. The local church is God's plan for this age and the local church should feature biblical preaching. That being the case, the preacher that a church calls is the most strategic decision made by a particular local church.  Pastoral Search Committees are motivated to pursue excellence in the pulpit.  However, there are essentially no available resources designed with the goal of motivating and equipping these search committees to call pastors who will preach expository sermons.  This thesis-project designed a manual for that specific purpose.  The manual was taught as a Sunday morning elective in a local church. But Jesus did not stop with servant leadership.  He took his leadership with the disciples to the next level when he stated, 'I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business.  Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from the Father I have made known to you (John 15:15).  This thesis develops the idea that leadership modeled after the ministry of Jesus, which includes the ingredient of deep friendship, is more effective than leadership that does not include friendship.  In developing this idea, this thesis examines the reasons leaders have often avoided friendship and how doing this has compromised their effectiveness. It presents research from over one hundred surveys, showing how friendship has been central in the development of leaders (both clergy and laity alike). It also examines historical and contemporary writings on friendship to support this idea. It is concerned with questions related to the emergence of the postmodern worldview, the impact of the postmodern worldview on the emerging generations, and the development of a biblically based missiological paradigm for understanding, engaging, and reaching a culture shaped by this worldview.  The study examines the mission field of the emerging generations, their postmodern worldview, and how that worldview shapes their lives.  The study continues with an examination of culture along with a biblical theology of understanding and engaging culture. The study lays out a biblical paradigm for engaging the postmodern generations that is based on the Apostle Paul's engagement with the pagan Athenian culture in Acts 17.
