As their chaplain, I daily sat in listening presence with them. This paper tells the story about how I assessed the need, visioned and developed the concept/model of Spiritual Life Group, and evaluated the efficacy in transforming both the individual life of each resident as well as the habitus of the facility. In the context of a middle-sized congregation surrounded by social change, the project designs two worship experiences as settings in which the connection between spirituality and social change can be nurtured, integrating insights from biblical studies, theological reflection, and Congregational history. Second, it describes an eighteen-month spiritual journey with eight lay women and men.  The discipline itself consists of three movements: centering, empowering, and serving.  A series of questionnaires was used to evaluate whether their commitment to ministry and mission deepened. This project guided the sisters through a spiritual autobiography with questions which dealt with every phase of their lives.  In nine weekly sessions they shared their memories and stories with a group of twelve.
