It refers to faith that is expressed more by right practices than explained doctrines. Critics argue this is inadequate compared with traditional norms of Protestantism. Through interviews, group discussions, and reflection upon the lived theology of members, the author proposes that following the Golden Rule is a valid way to understand the Christian faith. Based upon Jesus' teachings and the work of John Macmurray, the development of right-relationships in the 'beloved community' is presented as the Christian ideal and principal objective of salvation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Hartford Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8e52e4c8-38b6-4846-872d-a744b4f5725d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799721747348455424,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:26:47.124Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:28:26Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:14:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"19dd6f82-d594-4c9f-85ca-c8ada9ebce37","accessControl_ssim":["05ef6a36-c6aa-4bef-88ce-6df871cf8d1f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["By my side: a process model for ministry to nursing homes"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T07:28:25Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:53:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["fa90c80b-c7e5-4109-97f5-589b773b4054"],"hasLease_ssim":["394dc295-bab5-4284-91a8-a4851aaa32ab"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Miriam Therese Winter"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Priscilla A Linehan"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with nursing home residents"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project discusses a ministry for nursing home residents designed not only with a group, but also with individuals, one to one. Willing residents in a designated nursing home and volunteers from local congregations met individually as partners and in small group gatherings within the institution in order to provide spiritual companionship and spiritual well being for the residents. Storytelling based on the Christian scriptures, affirmed one's value, enlightened one's understanding of God's presence in daily life, and fostered friendships. The programs, the process by which they were developed, the setting that inspired them, and the theological foundations they were built on, including theologies of community, ministry of the laity, Christian baptism, marriage and funeral, are included.
