The method used by the author was a study of Scripture, historical materials, recent scientific research, secular theory, Christian theology and professional applications. The information was synthesized and used to develop projects in his congregation. These were tested through survey and anecdotal reflection. The author randomly surveyed all twelve districts of the North Carolina Annual Conference and found that mentoring was desperately needed. Research validated and affirmed that mentoring was not available in any formal structure for ministers beyond ordination. A real case study with a mentoring team, practical helps, resources and personal stories were included.
