The nine subjects selected were currently involved in a methadone treatment program.  The subjects were divided into three groups: experimental, control and untreated control.  With the experimental group, the stimulus was spirituality. Methadone and spiritual education were combined to determine if the stimulus was helpful to the patient.  The control group was exposed to the methadone and drug education.  The untreated control group was exposed only to its current methadone treatment and basic social training education.  The results of the study showed that the experimental group improved dramatically after receiving the stimulus of spirituality education; there were very minor positive results with the control and untreated groups."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719821374390272,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:56:10.372Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:34:45Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:45:55Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ff1bea5b-5ec4-4fc4-a01a-6105ec6e7d56","accessControl_ssim":["3d15f9c3-fea9-4fcb-bfcf-591125fbbec5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The impact of religion on the attitudes of drug users"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:34:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:25:36Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["22b45877-b908-430b-9698-11a7bd9109fd"],"hasLease_ssim":["a2af41ba-80dc-4611-a00f-8a1fe41c691c"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Howard University"],"advisor_tesim":["Clinton D McNair"],"year_tesim":["1991"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Morris Henderson"],"publisher_tesim":["Howard University School of Divinity"],"subject_tesim":["Drug abuse","African Americans--Religion"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study was conducted to investigate the impact of religion on the attitudes of drug users and their families in the black community.  The hypothesis is that religion is still significant in the black drug sub-culture, whether they attend church or not.  A survey was conducted among 15 drug users in the Highland Park vicinity of Richmond, Virginia.  This survey form consisted of values that people hold and are passed on in families through the generations; family structures and interaction patterns; sources of pereceived stress; and demographic data.  The data revealed that the overwhelming majority of the respondents were either fairly or very religious; none of the respondents indicated they were not religious at all.  Though the overwhelming majority were religious, a significant majority of the respondents do not attend religious services at all. Many of the life values that are important to non-drug-using cultures are important to the black drug sub-culture.  The black drug sub-culture expects things to get better for them in the future and in general are God-conscious."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131342516256768,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:45:58.668Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Morris Henderson","hits":1,"label":"Morris Henderson"},{"value":"Raymond A Bell","hits":1,"label":"Raymond A Bell"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Drug abuse","hits":2,"label":"Drug abuse"},{"value":"African Americans--Religion","hits":1,"label":"African Americans--Religion"},{"value":"Spiritual life","hits":1,"label":"Spiritual life"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":2,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Howard University School of Divinity","hits":2,"label":"Howard University School of Divinity"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":2,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1991","hits":1,"label":"1991"},{"value":"1993","hits":1,"label":"1993"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":2,"label":"Miscellaneous"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":2,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Howard University","hits":2,"label":"Howard University"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":2,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":2,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
