Data was gathered through surveys, written descriptions, and by personal interviews.  The research shows that there is a wide variety of experiences, many related to death and dying, regarded as important to faith; that persons experienced paranormal events; that the classic mystical experience is rare. The format is a series of four small group dialogues held in a local United Methodist church.  Changes of attitudes are measured by an instrument administered at the beginning and at the end of the dialogue process.
