The research focused on how ten patients responded to the process of a chaplain obtaining a spiritual life review, and then compared their physical, cognitive, and affective responses to twenty patients in two control groups.  All thirty patients' responses were measured at the beginning and the conclusion of the study. The study includes a comparative analysis of the psychology of Carl Jung and the spirituality of John of the Cross.  The integrative approach of the model incorporates the intrapsychic, interpersonal, and transpersonal dimensions of the human personality.  The model can be adapted for use in different ministries, although this project focuses on the ministry of pastoral counseling.  The qualitative study yielded some initial insights that are tentative and inconclusive. The negotiating method is adapted from the Harvard Research Project.  Pastors and lay leaders in three congregations are involved in testing the model.  They meet with a facilitator for five sessions and use two test instruments, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and World View Test Instrument, to facilitate negotiations.
