The author used mixed research methodology to find quantitative and qualitative results from the local church that he pastored, Chinese Christian Union Church-West (CCUC-W), and four other Chicago area churches. Based on the available data, both the quantity and quality index of CCUC-W were low, and this information was a danger signal of decline. The pastor needed a new approach to guide this church to healthy growth. The pastors were interviewed regarding 3 aspects of their upbringing; 'the relationship of the parents and their parenting method' 'the relationship between the pastors and their siblings' and 'how birth order within the family affects the pastors.' The content of the interviews have been organized, analyzed, and compared with literature and theory. Most of them had very good jobs in the workplace and were in the leadership positions when they accepted the call. From quitting their jobs or taking early retirement, the process of becoming full-time ministers is a great challenge. Once they became full time ministers, the challenge of pastoring at churches is even greater. This dissertation discusses these challenges and how to overcome them. The methods used in this research are from the perspectives of biblical theology, systematic theology, historical theology, sociology, futurology, statistics, and practical theology. There are two parts of this research. The first part is the foundation of world missions and its development, including four chapters: The Bible and World Missions; The Church and World Mission; Church History and World Missions; Era and World Missions. The second part is the investigation of world missions and its implementation in the Chinese churches, including two chapters: A Survey for Mission Ministries of the Chinese Churches; and, Implementation of Mission Ministries of the Chinese Churches.
