Specific questions sought to ascertain the influence of Micah 6:8 in one's personal faith, civic understanding, and personal relationships. The purpose of the project is to explore how scripture passages become integrated into the life of persons beyond their involvement in a particular organizational context; in other words, how scriptural passages move from theory to practical application in everyday living. Using 3dm's vehicle of huddle, Otto Scharmer's Theory U, and Luther's concept of being a theologian of the cross, the author of this emancipatory narrative study explored the identity, character, and skills of the transformational leader. My research focused upon three areas of exploration: is God always present; can effective pastoral leadership skills be identified; and is balanced leadership in the church driven by sound theology? My purpose was to learn more about pastoral leadership as it relates to the life and mission of the church during times of disagreement and conflict. From Scripture, I focused on Moses as a model leader who faithfully led the people of God along a difficult journey of change, conflict and reconciliation. Building on a foundation of readings about pastoral leadership and church conflict, along with business management resources, my strategy was to prepare a series of questions to help guide my interviews with other pastors. The institute was aimed at developing leadership potential and was designed to introduce participants to thirteen core competency areas considered important for successful church leadership.  Each program component, activity, and course was designed to strengthen the participants knowledge in one or more of these competency areas. This paper documents a historical process toward partnership at work within Presbyterian leadership and an impasse which now blocks its forward movement.  It develops a practical theology for ecclesial leadership by utilizing Daniel Day Wiliams' interpretation of the imago dei as the will to belong and Edwin H.
