The manipulation of prison inmates is analyzed and presented with practical means of countering its effect on prison personnel and volunteers.  This is done using a number of psychological approaches to understand and block manipulation and is integrated into a monotheistic theological understanding.  The options presented promote the readers' protection and the inmates' positive decisional change, through everyday types of interactions. The primary tool involves daily use of an imagery model outlined in Getting Well Again, (Simonton, Simonton, and Creighton) with five persons whose physical dysfunction of prolonged duration serves as an indicator of stress.  The group meets weekly for reporting and sharing for a three month period.  A pre-test and post-test procedure uses the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger, Gorsuch, and Luschene).
