The author's inventory is administered to 141 persons in three Lutheran congregations. The first part of this study describes the Lutheran homiletical theology of Law and Gospel from the perspective of Scripture, the writings of Martin Luther, and writings in the Lutheran tradition that suggest new applications of Law and Gospel.  The second part offers a Law/Gospel theology of preaching in light of these characteristics of postmodernism: constructed interpretation, feelings over reason, pessimism, the supernatural, and connectedness.
