The thesis also describes how the Kvalificerad Fortbildning Predikan, KFP, came into being and how the cooperation with ACTS was developed.  At the end of the thesis there is a reflection on the author's own training for the ordained ministry in the Church of Sweden during the 1980s, and how profoundly he was influenced by the KFP and his stay in Chicago during the summer of 2003.  At the very end of the thesis there are three sermons by the author preached from the fall of 2003 and to March 2004. Laypersons researched and studied texts on their own, and group reflection produced preaching  material.  A high degree of spiritual and intellectual growth was evident among the laypersons invited into the process. The definition of 'pastor' as leader of the congregation is often defined by what he does rather than who he is.  It is the thesis of this paper that the pastor as leader must be a confessor, a spiritual witness to the gospel which he/she proclaims.  Dietrich Bonhoeffer's writings are utilized as ministry and congregational roles are explored.  Also, various twentieth-century theologians and secular authors are cited for the study.
