In this framework preaching is in essence an imparting of power of the Holy Spirit and the risen Christ, over against the powers that actively seek to subvert the task of preaching. Looking first at our dilemma as 'people of the cloth,' it then offers one method of prayer and meditation, that of Ignatius of Loyola, that can assist us toward greater health, a deeper relationship with God, and a maturing, honest approach to preaching.
