Many Christians possess fragmentary understanding of the Bible. This study was conducted at the Entire Bible Reading Ministry located in Northern Virginia. In this project, the participants read through the entire New Testament in twelve weeks. The study showed the strong need for a program which provides a particular method of Bible reading. A great number of people, however, are not being reached for Sunday school because they are not attracted to the traditional approach of many churches. The purpose of this project was to offer an alternative to the traditional class.  Working from the assumption that many people would be interested in Bible study without the pressure of studying quarterlies, reading in class, and answering questions, the author developed the class.  Two methods of study were employed in the development of the class: a study of current trends in evangelism and church growth was conducted; and, an in-house survey of current church members and a survey of the community were conducted. It was discovered during the process that a need existed for an alternative Sunday school class. A four-session training event focusing on the historical, literary, and theological dimensions of biblical interpretation aided in achieving this goal.  A 16-page interpretive guide was created and utilized to assist lay people in the process of accuracy and understanding. Evaluative questionnaires were employed to ascertain understanding and growth. The approach was to investigate how the Bible developed from its beginning until today, and then study the culture and geography of the Near East.  The course also provided surveys of the various books that are contained in the Bible. Seven persons participated in the nine-week study, the first two being didactic sessions that covered worship and preaching.  They then participated in a Lenten Bible study-seminar of the New Common Lectionary texts. From the study, the author gained insights for the sermon. Utilizing a control group, the author conducted a pre-test and post-test. He enlisted six unchurched persons and led them in eight Bible studies which focused on the primary themes of the Gospel of John.  The evaluative instruments demonstrated that all of the participants grew spiritually as a result of the project.
