The pastor has a wonderful opportunity to stand alongside of these durign a most difficult time in their lives. The project is presented in five sections including why this is a necessary ministry, a survey of the literature, interviews with persons who have cared for a terminally ill person, and recommendations as to further studies. A self-help support group in the parish setting would assist in giving the needed support.  The author made use of her own experiences in leading cancer support groups, the resources of the Christian faith, and the results of a pilot cancer support group conducted in a church setting to write a guide for establishing such support groups in a parish setting.  Very strong bonding within the pilot support group occurred.
