The specific objective was to develop and implement a philosophy that would function effectively among congregants who are predisposed to either a more traditional (in this case, Nazarene) worship style or a more contemporary worship style. Chapters 1 and 7 introduce and conclude.  Chapters 2-4 examine the history and problems of immigrants, church, and pastoral models respectively through academic research. Chapter 5 presents results of questionnaires and interviews. Two chronic problems are dysfunctionality of the church and marginalization of immigrants.  Chapter 6 proposes the contextual christological model. While not all Reserve/Guard chaplains pastor congregations, those who do are subject to special tensions.  The reserve chaplain faces both philosophical and functional role expectations that come from a variety of sources: the military, the civilian congregation served by the chaplain, the chaplain's endorsing agency, and the ever-present realization that if mobilized he or she would have to leave his/her civilian congregation to be with and minister to Reserve soldiers.  A research questionnaire was developed by the author to identify tensions resulting from the dual role ministry. My surveys, after analysis, determined the leadership expectations of the organization's parishioners and the pastors' knowledge of leadership pre- and post-seminar.  My research described situational leadership model and biblical principles of leadership.  I synthesized both models to achieve the 'synthetic leadership paradigm' and compared the situational leadership to Diokpara leadership legacy.  The project was taught in a seminar. A study was made of the literature available concerning the theological underpinnings, curriculum and current programs. A self-help support group in the parish setting would assist in giving the needed support.  The author made use of her own experiences in leading cancer support groups, the resources of the Christian faith, and the results of a pilot cancer support group conducted in a church setting to write a guide for establishing such support groups in a parish setting.  Very strong bonding within the pilot support group occurred. Our shift from the right to the left socially and theologically has had a profound impact on the use of the intinerate evangelist at the end of the 20th century.  A survey instrument was used to determine the validity of this thesis.  The survey did not prove this thesis but did indicate the declining use of the itinerate evangelist. To facilitate the analysis, an evaluative grid was developed.  The grid was the interpretive tool used to determine changes in the presentation of the doctrine of sanctification.  Two main conclusions came about because of this study.  First, no significant theological change took place in the doctrine of sanctification as it appeared in the Revivalist.
