The project director utilized the ministry skills enhancement model to develop this project. He researched effective preaching principles through the development of an annotated bibliography. Upon determination of those effective preaching principles, the project director developed a series of four sermons. The director researched the field of application in preaching through reviewing the Bible, searching publications about application in preaching, consulting experts, studying sermon examples, and conducting interviews with experienced preachers. The director reflected on the use of application in preaching to find general functions and principles of application and then developed a series of sermons that demonstrated the use of applications in preaching. The project director utilized the ministry-skill enhancement model.  Six doctrinal surveys were completed by the participants prior to a six-part doctrinal sermon series.
