In 2011, Liberty Hill Baptist Church took a step toward racial reconciliation by joining the Southern Baptist Convention. Parishioners, some of whom migrated from the South, expressed concerns about joining 'that racist organization.' However, despite their concerns, Liberty Hill voted overwhelmingly to join the SBC. Buried in the pile of 1,145 resolutions from 1845 to 2017 are resolutions specifically impacting African Americans. The project director enlisted mentor couples and led them through six hours of mentor training regarding biblical principles of mentoring and marriage, conflict and resolution, stedardship, strengthening relationships, improving communications, and parenting together. First, the project director researched critical mission issues and skills for cross-cultural ministry in order to develop a tool to train youth for ministering cross-culturally overseas. Second, the director developed a teaching module for selected Southern baptist leaders in Texas to use to train youth for ministry in cross-cultural setting. Last, the director equipped selected Southern baptist leaders in Texas with the teaching module to train youth in ministering cross-culturally. These selected leaders along with the youth participants provided assessment and evaluation regarding the effectiveness and usefulness of the training module. In addition to the ministry goals, the project director pursued two professional goals. The first professional goal was to increase knowledge in cross-cultural ministry for the purpose of developing a tool for training youth. During the third phase, associational leaders adopted the new strategy to empower Greater Orlando Baptist Association churches to train believers who think and live as missionaries. The strategy included a variety of disciplines that were germane to current ministry as a church planter.  The first step was to explore models and study pertinent demographic data describing the Extremaduran people group.  Then the project director developed a strategy for making disciples among the Extremaduran people group and presented it to key leaders.  Throughout the process, goals were evaluated according to specific standards that will maintain both quality assurance and product assessment. A survey instrument was created using The Baptist Faith and Message and a panel of experts who possessed a broad range of educational and practical experience. The survey consisted of eighty-eight statements to which participants indicated their agreement or disagreement. The results raised concern regarding the doctrinal knowledge of Baptists. The equipping model was piloted with a select group of Ministers of Education in West Florida.
