The project began with research in the field of guest outreach ministry. Once the research was completed, the project director developed an eight session workshop to equip the selected church members in guest outreach ministry. Before each workshop session the selected church members were given a listening guide to help them follow the teaching time. The workshop listening guide gave the selected church members a broad view of guest outreach ministry. The project utilized expert evaluation, pre-test/post-test, case study, roleplay, and pastoral reflection. The workshop was taught in eight sessions. The project director increased his knowledge in disciple-making strategies and his skill in strategic planning. A strategy planning team was selected and trained to develop a disciple-making strategy based on the demographic research and other disciple-making strategies discovered by the project director. Several high school counselors were interviewed to find out how these skills impact students in schools. The purpose of the project was to equip lay leaders, in order to fashion, field, and lead an adult leadership team. Goals included: (1) enhancing church leadership and ministries; (2) improving the image of the church in the community; (3) replicating leaders throughout the body; (4) repairing damage from discord and abating internal conflict that has stifled the church's progress over the years. Consulting numerous print and electronic journals, ongoing leadership training programs and pastors, the project director designed a biblically-based teaching module that addresses spirituality, leadership skills training, gifts analysis with service opportunity, and conflict resolution. Another important element is evaluation of the trainees, director, and overall program effectiveness. The curriculum which was developed as a result of the research is intended to encourage an identity that is reflective of Southern Baptist doctrine. The project used member assimilation materials of responding Southern Baptist churches, as well as information gleaned from publications. Instruction included three introductory sessions and five implementation sessions based on Colossians 3:1-17. The first three sessions were an introduction to VIM, hearing God, and an inductive study of Christ in Colossians.  Implementation sessions included heavenly mindedness, sexual sins, social sins, Christlike graces, and spirit-controlled living.
