It then describes the design process for a training course for newly appointed ministers, its initial failure and then after further theological reflection a successful outcome. The goals of the project were (1) to develop evaluative instruments for use in assessing a student's progress, and (2) to produce a manual for pastors conducting internship programs suitable for general use among the brotherhood of Christian Churches of Christ. Schleiermacher, Barth, Bultmann, Tillich and Moltmann are considered as most important from theological literature.  Freud, Jung, Frankl, Maslow, Rogers and May are the psychologists discussed.  A case presentation is utilized to allow an interpretation of theological and psychological constructs.  Specific conclusions and implications are drawn for pastoral care, theological education, church ministry and lay application.
