A theology of pastoral care is provided. A design for a reproducible program of general visitation by persons in a congregation is given.  Forms are provided for assessing one's spiritual condition.  Growth in visitation skills is measured by a pre- and post-test given to each visitor. Spiritual growth of the visitors is assessed. After reading many books and materials in the fields of evangelism and pastoral care, the author established criteria that would give the program integrity, both theologically and practically.  He established the need through personal evaluation and a survey, and then developed the training program and relayed the dynamics of the training sessions.
