The project develops exegetical and historical perspectives of spiritual gifts and devises a strategy for church growth utilizing spiritual gifts.  Participants identified their spiritual gifts by participating in a spiritual gifts workshop.  The workshop divided participants into two ministry groups and facilitated their exercising those gifts in ministry.  A church growth committee, comprised of persons with the gift of administration, developed plans for growth.  Gifted participants, possessing other spiritual gifts, made those plans a reality. The purpose of the project was to make the transition from pastor-led to lay-led AIG groups as an ongoing strategy for evangelism in the local church.  The goals of the project were achieved by the following: 1) prepared a paper on the theology of evangelism reflecting the author's interaction with others in the field; 2) formed three pilot lay-led groups; 3) trained six couples; 4) prepared necessary assessment instruments; and 5) kept journal describing feelings and reflections. Against this backdrop, this study focused on incorporating youth in the life and mission of the St Thomas Assembly of God.  To facilitate this, adults and adolescents were called upon to recognize their weaknesses and seek for harmony.  Adults must be engaged in mission for, by, and with youth and never fail to recognize them as a part of the people of God. Through the process of mediation, stereotyped images of who victim and offenders are will be broken down; mutual agreement as what should be done about the offense can be reached; and reconciliation can occur. Para-ministers are non-professional church workers, who serve alongside the ordained pastor who directs their efforts toward specific ministries. These persons are not bivocational pastors, associate pastors, or ministers of religious education, music, etc.  They are lay persons who are given monetary remuneration for part-time services and full-time responsibilities.  The project includes a biblical foundation and theological justification for the model along with guidelines for its implementation. The objective was to avoid allowing such a beginning to happen without design or plan, and to avoid imposing on the congregation the pastor's personal agenda, programs and plans without thoroughly consulting the contemporary and cultural context in which this new pastorate was to be initiated. A randomly selected list of 200 ministerial families was devised for the mailing of the questionnaire, using the listing in the Yearbook of the Church of God...1979. Forty ministers and forty three ministers' wives completed the survey questionnaire.
