The plan included: identifying personal problems among attenders through an initial churchwide survey; addressing the problems in six sermons; evaluating the success of the attempt to address the problems by means of a weekly written survey, a sermon discussion group, and a second churchwide survey.  A slight improvement in addressing problems through sermons was made. More improvement was noted in relevance than in effectiveness. A call is made for the church to respond with a specialized ministry with the critically ill and their families.
