The Church is of God and will never disappear, and it is because we believe this that we have conducted this project in the hope of bringing about change among those of us called Christian beginning with an annual conference of the United Methodist Church.  The practicum was conducted over a 12-week period of time.  Two groups, one made up of female clergy and one made up of male clergy, were recruited from an annual conference and asked to meet as consciousness-raising groups using the book Women's Growth in Connection.  The emphasis of the groups was to focus on justice issues between male/female clergy using their own experience and calling forth their hopes for and commitment to change. For eleven weeks they met with the pastor weekly for a Bible study experience that applied principles and techniques from neuropsychology and neurolinguistic programing. The student worked with an eight member lay committee over a period of five months studying such terminology as prophetic, affirmation, confrontation, and hermeneutic; studying the scriptural texts the student had chosen upon which to base his sermons; preaching four sermons in his local church; and meeting with the lay committee following the delivery of each sermon for response/feedback.  The student concluded that preaching, the intent of which is Christian proclamation, is Bible centered.  The student also concluded that all preaching should include both dimensions of 'the prophetic element in preaching,' which are affirmation and confrontation.
