Pastors assigned to small town and rural churches who have little or no background in small town culture go through a culture shock akin to those who are serving in a foreign land.  This project was designed to introduce the culture and values of the small town and help participants identify the issues with which people in these communities are dealing.  By using the accumulated knowledge and experience of participants and the writings of rural sociologists, several key issues were identified during this three-day workshop and solutions were established collectively. A small group of eight adult members were recruited from a rural United Methodist Church in Okemah, Oklahoma.  For eleven weeks they met with the pastor weekly for a Bible study experience that applied principles and techniques from neuropsychology and neurolinguistic programing.
