The involvement of the lay leadership of the congregation also led to a sense of renewal in the life of the church.  A nine month period of time provided ample opportunity for relationships to develop based on the tradition of the church and with specific people in the local congregation. Members of the congregation were involved in disciplined study and living for an eleven week period.  The theological issues were: 1) the nature of the church as redemptive community; 2) Scripture as an authority for theology; 3) dangers of legalism moderated within a gospel of grace; 4) the quality of life within the small group; and 5) the difficulties of pluralism within a small group.
