The problem is approached in a practicum, in which a group of fifteen students at Oklahoma City University study worship and liturgy while planning for nine university worship events.  The project includes a theology, an educational approach, a narrative of the practicum, and a model for local church use. The goal of the practicum was to develop a plan for recruiting and training lay leaders in the local church that could help solve the problem by providing a reservoir of trained and willing persons adequate to meet the needs of that church. The author worked with a local church in developing and using a leadership plan that was repeated for four years. Evaluations and observations indicated that the plan did make a significant difference in the availability of lay leadership. While working with divorced people the author discovered one theme that is common to nearly all divorce situations, the theme of loneliness.  To address the theme of loneliness he modeled his procedure after William B Ogleby Jr's book Biblical themes for pastoral care. Oglesby underscores the importance of using the biblical story to intersect life themes. Participants are counseling clients experiencing depression and low self-worth, along with local church members who desire to work on these issues.  There are observed attitude and behavioral changes for both clients and non-clients. The author taught Survey of the Old Testament at East Texas State University in the fall of 1985.  The course design included an understanding of the Old Testament as a canon of liberation and the teaching model focused on the development of a dialogical relationship between the students and the material. The author uses informal interviews and surveys to show: a) 'For Better and Forever' is highly rated by those who use it; b) the key person to promote the program is the diocesan family life director; c) there are problems in educating local leaders about the value of parish based programs, and in providing the training for prospective sponsor couples. In response to this question the author formulated 'The Inquirer's Catechism' to measure the phenomenon. Over a two year period, the author taught a series of structured catechetical courses to four groups of inquirers.  He tested all participants on their perceived faith relationships with God at the beginning and the end of the instructions with a values clarification test, a diagrammed drawing project, and a self-report questionnaire. The author analyzed the statistics and noted all the signs of transformational process.
