The purpose of the practicum was to provide a setting in which counseling skills would be improved and in which awareness of women's experiences would be increased.  The project provided an opportunity for reporting the practicum findings and incorporating this information into theological reflection. The practicum was designed with six members of the congregation participating in the exposure to James Fowler's theory of faith development. As their ideas of 'faith' were enlarged, the group, in conjunction with the Christian education committee, designed curriculum and courses whereby the educational needs of thecongregation were addressed.  The assumption has proven correct for the six persons that were involved in the practicum. The project first presents a doctrine of church and ministry with special emphasis on the United Methodist Church.  It turns next to a description of the practicum which involved the use of especially designed instruments with four pastors and selected congregational representatives, in group and individual sessions.
