The Church can facilitate positive changes of perspectives on end of life issues with its aging parishioners through a narrative theology paradigm by reforming and re-authoring the events of their lives. the primary hypothesis was that through the guided life review, elderly parishioners experienced increased self-actualization. The hypothesis was proven to be measurable and correct. This was a functional change model based in Maslow's work on self-actualization, archetypal process of Jung and Hillman, and the eighth stage of human development of Erikson. Working from a meaning orientation, an integrating modality is developed following Erikson's theory in which the polarities of the final stage are seen as ego integrity or despair.  As the past is reviewed the meaning of various situations and events can be reorganized and reintegrated into a more valid picture, giving new meaning to one's life and allowing the sense of ego integrity. Primary is the need to increase the leader's understanding and awareness of the later years, to be more aware of program models, and to organize and evaluate programs.  Through the use of a survey research model 300 leaders with various experience levels completed a questionnaire testing this hypothesis.  The results are evaluated positively in terms of the response and through theological reflection.
