The primary interest of the author was to achieve greater clarity and refinement of his leadership skills as a change-agent within the liberation tradition model of ministry. The report focuses on the dynamics of conflict management within the church, the biblical and theological rationale for mediation, and the development of a workshop.  The workshop helps church members become aware of the chraracteristics of conflict within the membership of the local church. The unique call of the congregation has challenged the church to respond to new needs and problems at the end of the twentieth century. The project is a study of the special role of congregations and the unique relationship between the social sciences and theology. It includes an overview of literature available on consultation, conflict and community and an analysis of two processes of intervention: 'shalom-building' and 'bridgebuilder.' Four case studies illuminate the two intervention processes.
