A number of personal interviews were conducted with people in the church who had been hospitalized or bereaved in the last year.  Each was asked how many church people other than pastoral staff or their own family visited them during their difficult time.  A Sunday school class was then offered to train laypeople in such visitation skills, accounting for a variety of situations. A void has been created within the church that provokes the people of God to look for sub-biblical models and competing gospels for help.
