This project asserts that congregationalism without a plurality of elders is unbiblical and unhealthy. It shows that over time the Southern Baptist Convention removed a plurality of elders from its congregational polity and replaced them with a democratic process. The research shows revived interest in a plurality of elders among Southern Baptists. The paper begins by introducing and defining the practice of homiletical plagiarism. The definition is enhanced by examining the elusive, peculiar, prolific and destructive nature of appropriating sermon material without proper acknowledgment. The thesis question is then examined by consulting the contemporary perspectives on pulpit plagiarism. The question is measured against the moral law of God found in scripture and particularly the last three commands of the Decalogue. A Sunday school class was then offered to train laypeople in such visitation skills, accounting for a variety of situations. Church for more male leadership by involving three men in a one-year leadership development Bible study program.  Records were kept before and during the program which could be used to evaluate their level of participation in the church and its leadership.  Their involvement in the community was also noted in terms of service organizations, ministry to one another, and leadership responsibilities to new people. It then traces some of the history of short term missions to the present.  A church-based study was conducted through a questionnaire sent to every EPC congregation.  The project also records information from interviews with leaders from there EPC congregations who seem to be doing short-term missions well. The implications of Jesus' ongoing incarnation are then explored.
