The project is an adult instruction course, based on the liturgy and using an action-reflection method of instruction. The group explored ways in which the canonical text and its claims confront, interpret, and reshape the individual stories of contemporary believers.  The works of Frederiick Buechner provided perspective, commentary, and a medium of exchange between the biblical world and the world of contemporary listeners. Death anxiety is reviewed in the literature and critically examined in the approaches of Becker, Lifton, and Yalom; and from a biblical-theological perspective.  A curriculum was developed for adult education on death and dying. These methods were introduced into an existing anti-racism workshop.  Hypotheses were tested (with control and test groups) which predicted that using values clarification methods would result in more positive statements; fewer hostile statements; and more positive attitudes toward Native Americans.  All hypotheses comparing control and test groups were rejected.
