It is a concern that many churches have not come to terms with.  In Australia unemployment was a major concern in the early part of the 1980's.  This study looks at one major industrial city, namely, Wollongong in N.S.W. and considers the responsibility of the church to do ministry with the unemployed.  It raises the preliminary issues of consciousness raising within the church on the issues of unemployment.  It looks at economic, sociological, and theological aspects of unemployment and then proceeds to use the process of structural analysis as a tool in a workshop situation. The congregations are described as liberal, conservative, fundamentalist protestant, and catholic.  The questionnaire revealed that these Christians are not as involved in sports as the general public. Issues of religious pluralism, secularism, and economic uncertainty are examined.
