The Presbytery of Lake Michigan tested applications of computer support for selected facets of its administrative and managerial functions.  These applications included word processing, financial management, and the development of personnel files and mailing lists. The method was extensive reading in the theology of church administration, supported by interviews and case studies. Crisis counseling programs of these churches were inadequate to meet congregational needs.  The purpose of this study was to develop a joint interchurch crisis counseling program which would be based on a psychological and theological point of view.  A twenty-four hour Christian crisis counselor training program was developed for six target churches, emphasizing a biblical basis for crisis counseling and Adam's nouthetic counseling system.
