There are three sections to the work: a comprehensive study of conversion from the biblical material through current history to the present; a consideration of the contextualization of the message of the good news within the Australian scene; and a field study questionnaire and in-depth interviews of the clergy within the diocese.  As a result of this study it was found that the ethos of the clergy is more diverse than at first thought and that a broader definition of conversion needed to be considered. The author explores the viability of a theology and strategy of friendship evangelism.  It is a caring way to share our faith. Research into the process of Indochinese migration into Australia also is included.  A survey was conducted among churches in Sydney to discover the distinctive elements of Chinese evangelism.  A training program was developed based on the findings. This program was tested and retested. The author examines the biblical and theological mandate for mission as this mandate applies to the Air Force chaplaincy.  He compares a variety of methodologies, including church growth materials.  The author concludes that the military chapel community is part of the body of Christ and has the obligation and opportunity to witness.
