In the Philippines, culture and religion, and church and society are inextricably intertwined. The history of the Philippine Independent Church cannot be understood apart from the history of the Filipino people. It is a history of continuous struggle for freedom, identity, and sovereignty. The Filipinos were colonized by Spain for over 300 years, by the United States for 50 years, and was occupied by Japan for 4 years. The Hmong language questionnaire reveals Hmong church leaders' preference for gradual acculturaltion, compared with English language questionnaires expecting rapid assimilation/integration/adaptation. The author documents the effects of forty centuries of forced migration and dislocation and resettlement of the Hmong, and argues for acculturation of Hmong by multi-lingual, transcultural congregations. Asian theologians amplify a study of welcoming the stranger in the Bible."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717918721703936,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:25:55.861Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:51:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:27:38Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"9c774763-85ad-476d-99f8-2e6bbf646613","accessControl_ssim":["8556b1d1-6d51-42a6-9782-067d942845ef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of the theology and practice of evangelism in the Korean Evangelical Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:51:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:42:44Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6196c9fa-d25b-407c-8676-ad8afffeaf70"],"hasLease_ssim":["93663c7d-3b41-4328-ac1f-c9e2c05754d0"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Keun Won Park"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"location_tesim":["Korea"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Hee B Choi"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Missions","Korean Evangelical Church","Religion and culture"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project is to establish a theology of evangelism for the Korean Evangelical Church and present practical methods of evangelism based on this theology.
