A historical, biblical and theological study of the doctrine of the image of God was conducted in order to undergird the concept of human worth as taught in Purkey's model.  The social and psychological foundations for the invitational model are also investigated.  A control group and an experimental group each consisting of twenty people were selected from the church.  The experimental group was taught Purkey's model.  Pre/post-tests were given to each group.  The post-test revealed that the experimental group had become more inviting. A quasi-experimental social research design and relevant literary research were used in studying relational evangelism.  The experimental group received the teaching; the control group did not receive any training. Results were compared in pretests and posttests.  It was concluded the Christ did use relational evangelism as a primary tool of evangelizing others.  The adaptation of learnings gleaned from the study was applied to a local church setting. Two tests were administered to the seminar group. The Intrinsic/Extrinsic scale designed by Gordon Allport was given to measure religious orientation.  A test designed by Howard Garfinkel was administered to measure the increase in differentiation of self from one's family of origin.
