A process of application was developed and then implemented during a ten week sermon series which was evaluated by a peer as well as congregational group. The author improved measurably during the process. The project's hypothesis was supported.  Diversity in the design and delivery of sermons increased the effectiveness of preaching communication with listeners of differing cognitive style preferences. Dissimilar sermon delivery styles differed substantially in their degree of appeal to persons with contrasting cognitive style preferences.  How contemporary neuropsychological findings have affected communication theory were explored. The project was a test of the 'triangle theory of church growth' which is based upon three interdependent and interrelated principles: spirituality, ministry, preaching/teaching.  These three principles were evaluated by a committee process in relation to selected biblical passages and the ministry context in question.  An outside evaluator analyzed the theory and the committee's work. After examining the contextualization of preaching and teaching from biblical and historical perspectives, the project presented the nature and principles of contextualizing preaching in reference to three sermon styles (expository, topical, and narrative).  Two messages of each sermons style were preached between a pre-test and post-test questionnaire.  Sermon evaluation forms were also used with six sermon evaluation committees.
