The priorities of the newspaper's various roles were explored by examining polls of Baptist editors and the Index's board of directors.  A profile analysis of the newspaper's constituency showed an alarming absence of young readers, posing a threat to The Index's future vitality and influence. Through social research nine factors were identified.  The most significant were: 1) worship satisfaction, 2) key leaders keeping missions giving identified as part of the church's purpose, and 3) a blend between pastoral and lay leadership that was highly satisfying. Materials on biblical, theological and historical beliefs regarding sexuality are examined to formulate Christian values. Materials on adolescent sexuality, parenting, and surveys of local parents and adolescents are used to determine what needs to be taught.  A series of three seminars on communicating sexual information are conducted for parents. Separate retreats are conducted for junior and senior high youth covering physiological information, biblical perspectives, emotional concerns and decision making. Research was based on models of education in the Bible, and through an historical survey of ministry formation methods with some examples of alternative methods used in North America.  Questionnaires and interviews were used to determine the need for education by extension among General Baptists. The author determined through research that servant evangelism has both a biblical and theological foundation. After studying how a pastor can lead his church to an outward focus, the author enlisted volunteers to participate in servant evangelism projects. Three social science research techniques were used to measure the effectiveness of the project. These included a questionnaire in pretest/posttest format, interviews, and focus groups. Chapter 1 defines the subject of prayer and proves that the Bible is not only an infallible divine revelation of God's plan of redemption, but also a record of the invaluable inspirational prayers of Jesus Christ. Chapter 2 begins with the birth of the Sudan Interior Mission and substantiates its mission emphasis by prayer in West Africa. Chapter 3 examines hindrances to prevailing prayers and the Nigerian Evangelical Church of West Africa involvement with charismatic movement. Chapter 4 addresses the importance of prayer in mission and biblical imperatives of praying for mission. Prayer strategies for rapid exponential increase of church planting are also included. A discipleship strategy was implemented at Calhoun Baptist Church with the objective of producing quantitative and qualitative growth. The methods and procedures for the implementation of the strategy were outlined in the project.
