The research focuses on eight passages in 1-2 Corinthians where Paul speaks of his own suffering, determining how he suffered and how he responded to that suffering. Paul's responses are developed into 6 attitudes and 3 actions as the Christian's response to suffering. A Scale of Readiness was also developed to help identify the levels of readiness of the student prospects.  The project was used as a pilot project at the Arlington Chinese Baptist Church, co-sponsored by the Baptist General Convention of Texas.  Eleven chapters, an introductory session, and two assimilation sessions comprise the project material.  The chapters were written to address frequently asked questions among Chinese students. The study has been especially selected to help pastors/leaders in growing churches and also in counterbalancing an increasingly strong charismatic influence in the Baptist congregations in the Penang area.  This project will be conducted during a time frame of thirty-two hours of seminary-class training for the students of Penang Baptist Seminary and any leaders of Penang-area Baptist congregations who desire to enroll in the class.  The thirty-two hours of class time will be delivered during a two-week period consisting of four hours a day, Tuesday through Friday of each week.  The goals are that not only will the leaders become trained but that they will return to their respective congregations and lead similar classes/seminars. The lay members of the churches, therefore, will be more knowledgeable about these biblical teachings and less vulnerable to false teachings.
