It surveys the faith stories of seven evangelical leaders and their sons from the mid-twentieth century to the present. It also surveys the canon of scripture to see how the baton of faith is passed or not passed from fathers to sons. Using an author-developed questionaire, the seven case studies were evaluated in the areas of conversion experience, subsequent challenges to faith, and relationship between fathers and sons. In addition this research examines father/son relationships through the entire canon of scripture. The author argues that the 'I am' sayings and their pericopes in the gospel of John provide parents a theological and pedagogical foundation from which they may shape the Christological development of their pre-adolescent children. Research indicated a ministry need for such a resource. Scripture was surveyed for additional insight into parental pedagogy, the child, and the 'image of God.' The changes that take place during the adolescent years affect not only the adolescent but the parents as well.  This project will equip parents to face the often turbulent adolescent years with confidence.  The project will be accomplished by enlisting parents to meet once a week over a period of ten weeks for one hour each time.  Parents will demonstrate their understanding of some of the issues that confront adolescents and parents during the adolescent years.  This will be accomplished by identifying areas of need in their own family, understanding the roles and responsibilities of training adolescents, discovering ways of improving the parent/adolescent relationship, and by evaluating parental influence in the home. The adolescents of the parents in the control group will also be involved in a separate three week session.
