Two analytical techniques are used. One is a personal analysis. The second technique provides a third-party evaluation from a eight person pastor focus group. After analyzing both methods and comparing the focus group data, the results showed that either method was effective in producing Christ centered sermons. While Greidenus had the slight edge oven chapell for clarity and effectiveness, chapell had the slight edge in practicality. A high rate of pastoral turnover and geographic isolation necessitate the training of lay preachers to meet this need.  Lay preachers can be effective if they understand the communication patterns of the traditional/oral listeners who occupy these pews.  This project equipped a group of laymen from a large urban church to preach in the small rural churches of Oklahoma.  The laymen were trained to understand and appreciate biblical narrative.  they learned basic storytelling skills.  They worked to construct and deliver sermons that respected the traditional/oral communication keys of stories, relationships, and proverbial sayings. The people who will find this project most beneficial will be young men in ministry who have not been able to attend a Christian college or seminary, men who are called to preach later in life, bi-vocational pastors, and laymen who have opportunity to preach occasionally.  A second group of people who will benefit is those to whom these men minister on a regular basis.  The project was accomplished by contracting with a group of about ten interested men to meet once a week over a period of ten weeks for two-hour sessions.
