The congregation was separated into two groups for a period of eight weeks.  One group experienced video-assisted sermons and the other did not.  Each group was tested for retention of the sermon message. Results from the testing were further divided into five generations present in the church.  Statistically it could not be said that greater retention was gained by video-assistance. This group will analyze the pastorate from a multicultural perspective as well as barriers that impede growth and relationships among the laity.  The group will attempt to outline biblical and anthropological principles for multicultural ministry. The project explores biblical principles of prayer related to the saved and the unsaved.  Eight people from the congregation will be asked to be a part of a prayer task force for thirteen weeks.  The prayer task force will study biblical principles of prayer and outreach, keep a prayer journal, develop prayer partners, and participated in selected prayer activities.  A pre-test and post-test will measure understanding of prayer, spiritual growth, and witnessing activities. The New Age religious emphasis upon channeling will be contrasted with the Christian worldview and a method of pastoral ministry consistent with the polity of a Baptist church.  The purpose is to make a Southern Baptist congregation aware of the challenge of New Age channeling and to teach the congregation, through a selected study group, how to respond to the challenges of New Age theologies and why the response is necessary.  First, the project will focus on familiarizing the participant group from the Calvary Baptist Church of Inola, Oklahoma, with the claims of channeling.  Second, the project will endeavor to develop a faithful biblical hermeneutic so that the study group can respond to these claims. Ultimately, the combined purpose is not only to understand, but also to be able to answer the treat presented by channeling to the Christian church. This generation, known as Generation X, is vastly different from its predecessors and presents a great challenge to the church which is just now beginning to embrace the differences presented by the Baby Boomer generation.  Generation Xers challenge the church to show the validity of Christianity in this world.  They reject traditional institutions and beliefs while they become more and more skeptical of all truth claims.  This project will seek to train a group of Christians, members of Spring Creek Baptist Church, to share the gospel effectively in personal witnessing encounters with members of Generation X. This goal will be accomplished by teaching sessions which focus on the dynamics of Generation X combined with practical, on-the-job, witnessing experiences.  These Christians will be challenged to reach individuals who fall into this age group and cultural worldview. The learner will be led through this course of study to use the Old Testament names of God as a guide in offering prayers of praise to enhance personal and corporate worship.
