The author proposes that the fundamental secular belief that there is no external being called 'God' is consistent with the underlying assumptions of contemporary western culture, and must be seriously addressed by the religious community if evangelism of our culture is to be effective. The study suggests the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada assume a leadership role with other Christians to facilitate re-evangelization of the region.  Research methodology results in a presentation of a missionary history of the north, an undergirding mission theology, design of relevant ministry and Christian community models, principles for planning and implementation and a thematic collation of judicatorial reader responses which influence significantly the proposal.
