Drawing on the insights of family systems theory, particularly the concept of self-differentiation, the project focuses on the experiences of North American Mennonites, who in many ways have integrated into the surrounding culture but are still strongly influenced by the theology and practices of their tradition. Interviews with 40 parishioners help determine the structure and themes of five church hall meetings in which stories of religious experience are told by people from distinct cultural backgrounds.
