I first explore the biblical and systematic theology of Christlike maturity. Next, I describe a series of interviews in which the three most common emerging themes affecting spiritual growth among graduate students were: limited time, the need for community, and spiritual growth through crises. This thesis-project employs proactive research methods to accomplish its objectives. Chapter one identifies the problem of not properly understanding the nature, place and role of Christian formation and describes the ministry context of Beverly Heights Presbyterian Church. Chapter two examines the biblical foundation for Christian formation and chapter three explores its theological framework.
